Kate's Kids 4 the CURE

As of September of 2009, we have raised and donated over $60,000 to local organizations for cancer research.

FUNDRAISING METHODS:

Selling items specially designed for fund-raisers, like special Tupperware; Home Interiors Jar Candles, Jewelry and even our own hand-made beaded charms and bookmarks.

Accepting donations (in 2005 we became a tax-exempt non-profit under IRS 501(c)(3), so donations are tax-deductible)

Accepting pre-tax payroll deduction contributions (we are registered as a recipient through the United Way)

Hosting Special Events like concerts, golf tournaments, gift shows and yard sales.

RAISING AWARENESS:

Sponsored Wall of Hope banner (photo below), encouraging cancer-related Legislation. The banner joined 4,000 others from all over the United States in Washington D.C. September of 2006 as part of the American Cancer Society's "Celebration on the Hill".
Participate in awareness events. We regularly form teams to participate in annual events like the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides For Breast Cancer" and the "Relay for Life"; The Susan G. Komen Foundation's "Race for the Cure"; and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Light up the Night" events.
Serve as volunteers for cancer awareness events.

OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICE:

Made sack lunches and delivered them to a local shelter for distribution to the homeless.

Helped the American Cancer Society make breast health necklaces. These necklaces had different sized beads representing the size of tumors if discovered at different stages, thereby encouraging early detection through a powerful visual.
Send greetings, posters and other small tokens to those we know suffering from the disease.
