About Us

United by a shared vision, the members of Kate's Kids 4 the CURE are turning dreams for a cure into action.

Fueled by an abundance of youthful energy and determination, this non-profit, student-led organization donates the money it raises from a variety of fundraising projects, to local cancer research facilities.

These kids believe that working together, with the help of people like you and by supporting local research facilities, we CAN make a difference in the fight to find a cure!

Started in November of 2002 by an eight year old girl this organization is molding the leaders of tomorrow. Read Our Story

Kate's Kids 4 the Cure members present the $11,250, they raised during 2009 to be used by the 60 research scientists at the Robert W. Franz Cancer Research Center, under the direction of Walter J. Urba, M.D., Ph.D. The Research Center is located on the campus of Providence Portland Medical Center. They also made donations from 2010 and 2011, bringing the total donated to local research facilities since 2003 to over $80,000! Way to go kids! Other local facilities/organizations that have benefited during that time are: American Cancer Society, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation and Oregon Health Sciences University.

Our HOPE

The following is a poem written for Kate's Kids by Katelyn's mom that sums up our philosophy and hope for the future.

KK4C means HOPE to me!

HOPE that one day . . .

Healing from cancer will not be a
need,as it will be stopped before
bad cells can seed. There will
be no such thing as bald “chemo”
looks, and tumors will only
be heard of in books

Oncologists will not be called on
for a cure, as cancer will then be
prevented for sure! The word
“markers” will reference felt tips
from Crayola, NOT blood samples
taken to test for carcinoma.

People will no longer know what it
means, to fear the consequence of
bad cancer genes. And families will
never have to say goodbye,
just because diseased cells
have multiplied.

Eventually these dreams WILL
come true, when people work
together like me and you, to
dedicate time, heart and money for
sure like the young members of
Kate’s Kids 4 the CURE!
